Negative and positive sides of blogs on one example
Hello again!
In my previous entry you could see what does weblog mean and could it be considered as good journalism.
Now I want to show negative and positive sides of blogs on one more example. This blog, unlike to the previously taken one, is kept in unofficial style.
First of all I’d like to say that the reason for enjoying blogs is the fact that you can get unofficial information very easy. And very frequently this information shows the real picture of what is happening better than official news. For example you never find in official news sites where drugs are sold in Almaty. But you can get this knowledge from what is written on blogs. I found this information in the story about Kazakh man in England on www.blog.kz. This is just an entertaining discussion, and the words about drugs are mentioned in passing. Surely this is not verified information; maybe some can consider it as not information at all. But still, this is a tip to find and probably check real information.
About Blog.kz. It is the first blog in Kazakhstan. The man, who powered it, is Erlan Askarbekov, a PR specialist. Now the content of this blog is different from it was a year ago. I remember I read some correspondence between the blog’s creator and some professionals of the field he works in last autumn. It was like teasing each other’s weak sides as professionals and individuals. Some people who worked under the creator’s supervising (I know some of them personally) considered it as pretty much dirty and unethical. They also said that the mentioned discussion has a negative impact on the work of the company, where the creator of the blog works. Now such correspondence is stopped. This is an example, where weblog can bring damage.
Unfortunately, this weblog is only for those who speak Russian :(
But the case makes such a great sense that I could not avoid writing about it here.
